TJX - A partnership crafted around design, value and velocity
Winning off-price retail through speed, trend intelligence, and product innovation
The Challenge
TJX (T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods and more) plays in a fast-moving, highly competitive retail arena. They approached us to deliver high-quality product at speed, but not at the cost of design flair and creative excellence. We needed to produce assortments that combined on-trend design, craftsmanship and perceived value in a way that stood out within their expansive retail ecosystem. All while taking advantage of finite seasonal windows of opportunity. The term “challenge” was an understatement.

The Concept
To stand out in TJX’s retail world, we leaned in with design first thinking, sprinkled in storytelling and doubled down on product innovation. Our artist-led ranges, including the now-iconic Rae Dunn range, brought handcrafted charm to the shelves and flooded shopping carts (and Instagram feeds!). We backed creative instinct with trend intelligence, sourcing inspiration from global shows and forecasting platforms. The result? Housewares ranges that were not only ahead of trend, but completely ahead of the pack. From nostalgia-rich collabs with Disney, Peanuts and Miffy, to singing ceramics (yes, really!), we’ve consistently raised expectations and reinforced our role as a trusted, go-to partner for TJX. Overdelivering at every turn.
The Creation
We worked closely with TJX buyers to develop thoughtful, curated assortments from concept to shelf. Acting as both creative studio and production partner, we managed the process end to end, from early trend research through to final delivery. Our collaboration is built on tight communication, fast feedback loops and a shared focus on commercial success. Behind the scenes, we maintain strong internal coordination, allowing us to move quickly, adapt easily and scale efficiently across seasons and product categories.



Commercialization
What began with tabletop evolved into a multi-category success story, with Magenta-designed products now spanning housewares, baby, beauty, candles, garden and textiles. By staying true to a strong design ethos and meeting the needs of off-price retail, we helped TJX grow their assortment and their bottom line. The result has been tens of millions in annual retail sales, with Magenta consistently delivering programs that stand out, sell through and keep (obsessed) shoppers coming back for more.
