Meet Our Newest Creative Collaborator: Wendy Lau of The Kwendy Home

Why We Chose to Partner with Wendy Lau of The Kwendy Home

Long before there were sketches, samples, or color palettes, there was Wendy's world. Cozy corners layered with vintage finds. Handmade details that make a house feel lived in. Seasonal decorating that feels collected over time rather than carefully staged for a photo.

When you spend time with Wendy, you quickly realize you're not just looking at beautiful spaces. You're watching someone who genuinely loves creating a home people want to gather in.

That was what caught our attention. This collection is just the beginning of our journey together. While we're excited to introduce the first pieces inspired by Wendy's signature style, we're already working on future collections that continue expanding the world of The Kwendy Home.

In many ways, this collaboration was a full-circle moment for Wendy. She and her family have been collecting Magenta pieces for more than a decade, so designing a collection together felt like a natural next step. From the very beginning, it felt like more than a single collection. We're already working with Wendy on future collections, and we can't wait to keep sharing new pieces inspired by her creativity, her love of gathering, and the traditions that make a house feel like home.

More Than Beautiful Homes

Wendy has built something special with The Kwendy Home.

Over the years, she's created a community of people who don't just admire her style, they're inspired by it. Through approachable DIY projects, thoughtful decorating ideas, and her unmistakable love of the seasons, she's shown that creating a beautiful home isn't about perfection. It's about making a space that reflects the people who live there.

That philosophy felt familiar.

At Magenta, we've always believed the products we design should do more than fill a shelf. They should become part of everyday life. The mug someone reaches for every morning. The serving platter that appears at every family gathering. The Halloween pieces that come out of storage each fall because they carry years of memories with them.

When we first started talking with Wendy, the conversation wasn't about licensing. It was about shared values.

We both believe the best products tell a story. They feel personal. And over time, they become part of the traditions people create at home.

A Collection Should Feel Like Its Creator

One of the questions we ask ourselves before every collaboration is simple:

If we removed the name from the product, would people still recognize the person behind it?

For us, the answer has to be yes.

The strongest collaborations aren't built by placing someone's name on a collection. They're built by understanding what makes that person's perspective unique.

With Wendy, that meant paying attention to the details that define her work.

She has an instinct for creating spaces that feel warm and welcoming without feeling overdesigned. She mixes old and new effortlessly, finds beauty in handmade touches, and has a way of making every season feel worth celebrating.

For this collection, Wendy wanted to create pieces that felt like something you might discover and love for years. Vintage-inspired with a touch of handmade charm, each piece was designed to feel good in your hands and inviting enough to bring out when you're serving the people you love.

“I believe in collecting things you love to serve people you love.”

That idea became part of the heart of the collection. It's about creating pieces that aren't meant to sit untouched in a cabinet, but become part of the everyday moments and gatherings that make a home feel like your own.

It's a philosophy that feels very much like Wendy.

And then there's the little mouse. A beloved character that appears throughout the collection, he takes on a new personality in every story, whether he's playing wizard in a haunted mug house, sneaking a cookie during the holidays, or simply settling in for a cup of tea. It's a small detail, but one that captures what we love most about Wendy's creative world: there's always something unexpected to discover, and hopefully, something that makes you smile.

Rather than asking Wendy to fit into our process, we wanted the collection to feel like a natural extension of her world.

Bringing an Idea to Life

Of course, inspiration is only the beginning.

Turning a creator's vision into a retail collection takes hundreds of decisions that most people never see. Every piece has to feel authentic to the creator while also meeting the realities of manufacturing, retail, and everyday use.

That balance is where collaboration matters most.

Throughout development, Wendy remained closely involved, reviewing concepts, sharing feedback, and helping shape the little details that make the collection feel unmistakably hers.

Our role was to translate that vision into products that could be manufactured at scale without losing the warmth and personality that inspired them in the first place.

It's something we care deeply about. Because our goal has never been to simply make products that look like someone's brand.

We want them to feel like them.

Why Creator Collaborations Matter

The way people shop for their homes has changed.

They're looking for products with a point of view. They want to bring home pieces created by people they've followed for years and whose style they've come to trust.

That's why creator collaborations are so meaningful when they're done thoughtfully. They're not about putting a familiar name on a product. They're about preserving what made people connect with that creator in the first place.

Our job is to honor that trust through thoughtful design, careful craftsmanship, and products that feel worthy of the community that's been built around them.

The Beginning of Something Special

This is only the beginning of our journey with Wendy. The collection you're seeing today is the first of what we hope will be many created together.

Over the coming months, we'll be sharing more behind the scenes, introducing the collection, and giving you a closer look at the ideas that shaped it from the very first sketch to the final product. We'll also be introducing new collections as our partnership continues to grow.

Today marks the beginning of our partnership with Wendy, and we're excited to officially welcome The Kwendy Home to the Magenta family.

Because the best collaborations don't happen because two brands decide to work together. They happen because there's a shared belief that home should feel personal. That products should help create memories.

And that good design isn't just about how something looks; it's about how it makes people feel long after they bring it home.

We hope you'll enjoy this first collection as much as we've enjoyed creating it, and we look forward to sharing what's next.
