Some people make products. Some people make processes. Mia Liu makes both work better.

As Magenta's Sourcing & Product Development Manager, Mia sits at the intersection of creativity, manufacturing, compliance, and execution. She's one of the people responsible for helping transform ideas into products that can be produced consistently, meet retailer requirements, and arrive exactly as intended.

Originally from China, Mia joined Magenta in 2017 and has grown alongside the company, taking on increasing responsibilities across sourcing, product development, compliance, and team leadership. Today, she plays a critical role in helping teams navigate complexity while keeping projects moving forward.

What makes Mia especially effective isn't just her technical expertise. It's her ability to bring clarity to situations that initially seem complicated.

A Problem Solver at Heart

Many people know Mia as highly organized and detail-oriented. What they may not know is that she genuinely enjoys solving complex problems.

Whether she's navigating a compliance challenge, refining a development process, or helping a factory partner work through a production issue, Mia finds satisfaction in bringing order to complexity.

That mindset has become one of her guiding philosophies:

"Problems are inevitable. Surprises are optional. My goal is to make sure nobody on the team is ever surprised — by a deadline, a vendor, or each other."

One of Mia's most significant recent accomplishments was leading the onboarding and team-wide training for Disney's FAMA compliance certification process, a complex workflow that impacts both TJX and non-TJX programs.

She didn't simply learn the process herself. She built systems around it, streamlined the workflow, and ensured the broader team understood how to navigate it successfully.

It's a reflection of how Mia approaches leadership. Rather than creating dependence, she creates confidence.

Outside of work, Mia enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.

Many weekends are spent exploring local parks, hiking nature trails, and discovering new outdoor spaces together. Some of her favorite moments are simply watching her children experience something new for the first time.

That appreciation for curiosity and discovery mirrors the mindset she brings to her work.

She understands that great products don't happen because of one person or one department.

"At the end of the day, product development is about people. Great products happen when teams communicate well, trust each other, and work toward the same goal. If I can help make that process a little smoother, then I've done my job."
